Wisdom and Knowledge : Vivek Chelari's Question

Posting a discussion from Madhuvanam Winter School group:

Vivek asked in Winter School Vivek O Kuttu :

വിവേകവും വിജ്ഞാനവും തമ്മില്‍ എന്താ വ്യത്യാസം...?

Baiju NT said :Knowledge refers to the understanding of facts and data that you gain through education or experience. Knowledge is available to anyone if he/she has the right resources.

Wisdom, on the other hand, refers to the ability to apply knowledge. S...omeone may have all the knowledge about a subject but may not have the wisdom to utilize it properly or sensibly. When a scientist makes an advanced weapon, he is knowledgable and when he chooses not to use it against mankind, he is wise. You can gain knowledge by educating yourself but you can gain wisdom only by experience.

Krishnan Kartha said : Vivekam is wisdpm and Vijnanam is knowledge, according to Baiju.for academic puirpose I agree with it for the time being, as the terms are not of much importance once you get the truth about them.
Knowledge is analytical and Wisdom is synthesis. Knowldege is the result of your effort, where as Wisdom descends upon you when you leave all your efforts. Knowledge is acquired while Wisom is a gift from nature.Knowledge relates different aspects of life and things. It can be knowledge about education, job, earning, married life, children, old age, politics, religion, culture, etc etc. They are different from each other. And each ingredient has enromous variety in it. Religion for example, numerous beliefs and cults, and they never agree... Politics they never agree.... culture .. each one is chauvanistic... like that

But WISDOM is synthesis of all these.... Wisdom depicts the superfine thread of understanding between all these conflicts of so called philosophies of religion, politics, human life, culture etc etc... Not only conflicts are harmonised but all streams are unified and made to be seen as different offshoots of one simple Truth. There evaporates all confusion and chaos and you are at Supreme Peace which Indians call "Prasaanthi".
