Krishnan Kartha : Prayer is a privilege. It is the relationship between the seeker and the sought. It is unique in its own parlance. Here I mean, that, the uniqueness persists on the respective state of mind. Prayer ,primarily known as it is between the God and the Devotee. In this duality, God is primarily sought for material existence and survival. Like a child need its mother just for feeding and caressing... On growing up the child as a man or woman may need many things from the mother.. Likewise, a devotee may need many material objects or situations and he may ask it from God. There is nothing mediocre in it. Being grown up spiritually the same one may ask for spiritual gifts. This is also right. But for God , you must understand, both prayers are alike. That is why it is said in the Bible, "fatherhood of God and brotherhood of man" . For a father children are alike. He may prescribe priorities... but still. This saying justifies one more aspect of prayer. The  innocence.... The child is innocent, cherubic. When you consider the God as Father or Mother , the prayer should also be innocent. Because, you are a child. Unsullied . Without pre conditions. ..Thus the prayer becomes a privilege. A privilege for a devotee. ..................... When we go to the second state of mind, Prayer becomes a communication. There is conversation between you and the providence. here you communicate. Even now it is a privilege. Because you have none other with the same wavelength to communicate. It is a solace. Prayer now may not be for silly things. You are grown up here and have become responsible and thus, aware of rights...That is why I called it a communication..................................................................................And now, further it grows into a COMMUNION. The third state. You have become fully in harmony with the nature. .. the universe .. or the Existence . I had used nature here first because, only when you are connected with the nature, you have needs. Only when you are in nature you are limited. So long as you see nature and yourself as divided. When you cross this, you have no needs because you realise that whatever you want , can be provided by your own being. ... you become the providence ... you become the nature... But still.... still You PRAY...!!!! why? You play a hide and seek game with the nature. You condescend to the duality again , come down to the division .. you and the nature as two,,,, in order to enjoy the above mentioned 'privilege' ! Jesus prayed in the Garden at Gathsamene .... He prayed at the cross .... Because they enjoy the"privilege" .... I remember my Master's words " I separated Myself from Myself .. in order to enjoy Myself" .. . And now a Vedanthin( one who believes that he is in the path of wisdom ) may ask, why should he pray? Let me analyse the process of prayer for the Vedanthin. The God is in you, and you are praying to God, that means you are praying to yourself.A=B and B=C then A = C. ! The enlightened man is in union with the Supreme. Now you may understand the deeper meaning of the prayer at Gathsamene. It is in fact ,not a prayer as common man do. It is almost a soliloquy. It comes out of bliss and NOT distress. When you see a beautiful locale, you may utter an exclamatory word... When you go through bliss , you may make such noises...Likewise, you gets overflown with ecstasy and spell out some thing,,, and it is TOO a prayer. So Minu Kartha , here is the answer for the first part of the first question from my first friend. Second part will follow

Yuh Laban There are many prayers in Srimad-Bhagavatam offered by great sages and devotees. These prayers which are of the highest order glorify the transcendental qualities of the supreme personality of Godhead.
