Krishnan Kartha : Our Master

Krishnan Kartha was brought to limelight by the media as the youngest film maker in 1988, when he completed his debut film in Hindi "Amshini" at the age of

23,starring Seema Biswas. The national press carried reviews of his film by vetrean critics. Prior to film making he had a short stint at nativist theatre, remembers Sri.Sreevarahom Balakrishnan one of his mentors in the creative writing.Mr Balakrishnan's review in The Hindu says that "Music is his forte" !. Krishnan Kartha was also well known with his sitar playing and he had a few students also learning the hindusthani musical scores.

During the discussions on his second film "Vaanaprastham" (the title was registered by Kartha though two veterans made film with the same name later), Krishnan Kartha is reported to have developed an inner vision during deliberations about the philosophical content of the film which made him abruptly stop his project and turn to a different life style of living. He was seen engrossed in meditation for long hours in the year 1988. The state intrigued many of his close friends and some of them tried in vain to follow Krishnan in his new path too but to get disappointed and to leave him.

However Sri Padmanabhan Thampi and Suresh Kumar could travel with him in his intineraries in karnataka state spending in meditation at various spots. One day Krishnan and Padmanabhan reached Whitefield, the summer residence of Sathya Sai Baba. The Baba was on a tour but he returned to Whitefield that night. Krishnan was prompted by Baba to start a group of seekers and guide them. From June 1989, Sai Baba started to grant personal audiences to Krishnan and his group continuously, in which the Baba moulded the master in Krishnan.Sai Baba had granted 49 personal audiences to him between 1989 and 2002. The enthusiastic sai devotees joined Krishnan in his efforts and the group became a movement later. In one of the interviews granted to the trustees, Sai baba called him the "Master and the lamp post".

As per Saibaba's instructions given in 1992 at Kodaikanal, a school was started at Madhuvanam in 2004, named Madhuvan Sai Vidyashram. The period between 1992 and 2004 was conservatively  utilised by him for learning the child development theories of all known education theorists from Frobell to Bandura. He prepared voluminous notes  on his research and now they adorn the stack room of the Madhuvanam Sai Vidyashram. The school is going through its formative years with its inherent trials and tribulations. A few madhuvanamites support this cause while Krishnan's friends, clients and well wishers encourage him in this effort. Krishnan Kartha maintains a vision on schooling.

We know Krishnan Kartha from 2002 onwards. The charisma he has is one of Wisdom. We gather around him during Christmas holidays and get immersed in discussions with him in the evenings which may prolong upto midnight normally. We ask about everything under the sun and he has his own convincing answer for each. During that time, new students from colleges in kerala also assemble there for the Winter School on Indian Culture and Spirituality, at Madhuvanam ashram, and they get enchanted at the irresistible pull of the wisdom emanating from the master.

Krishnan Kartha's vision on school

The premise of the vision:

He believes that the right of education as legislated a few years back in India has to be put into practise in the right spirit. Kartha's master Sri Sathya Sai Baba advocated that"education and healthcare are birthright of every human being and they are to be provided free of cost". This is naturally the duty of a welfare state. When the state is not prepared or potent to do it, citizens should come forward to do it. That was why Sai Baba built two hospitals without a cash counter at the same time providing the state of the art facilities at Whitefield and Puttapparthi. He also built an institution to provide free education from KG TO PG at Puttapparthi. This institution is also ranked top by the grading agencies of the Government of India.

Theory into practical

Krishnan Kartha started Madhuvan Sai Vidyashram school in order to provide the rural children free education in ICSE syllabus. He found that running a school just for the "have nots" will not bridge the sociological as well as intellectual gap. So he admitted students from well to do families and provided space for brilliant children from rural households who can withstand the ICSE syllabus. His friends help him in this noble endeavour by sponsoring the children.
The Council for Indian Certificate Examination recognised the efforts and proceeded for affiliating the school. The High court of Kerala passed an order to the State Government to issue a No Objection certificate for ICSE affiliation. The school is on its Decennial Celebrations, in 2015-16.

Teacher and Master

A picture post from Krishnan Kartha on August 23,014
A teacher may teach you things and test you before you forget the lessons. A Master introduces you to life's situations gradually, exposing you to problems in homeopathic doses and makes you fit to stand on your feet unaffected when the real predicament appears before you. That is why my master says" follow the master, face the devil, fight to the end and finish the game"

Who is afraid of whom: A dialogue with Krishnan Kartha

Krishnan Kartha who is afraid of whom? !!!

Ac.Menon There is no fear once the vision of universal oneness is attained.

Krishnan Kartha universal oneness? it is not something to be attained, but something forgotten

Ac  Menon ?

Krishnan Kartha here neither the tiger nor the monk experiences universal oneness. He is brave because it is a tamed one. The tiger is brave because the ochre clad men had been kind to them so far

Krishnan Kartha One hails from universal oneness. He splits himself to many and the cosmos emerges. It is only a homecoming for one who realises the lost empire

Ac Menon i agree with the vision of lost empire. But all ochre clads cannot afford to do it

Krishnan Kartha :the vision is NOT synonymous with the colour of the attire

Krishnan Kartha :in fact no one reaches there like that.During their search they find it, or discover it.

Ac Menon s. "J

Krishnan Kartha whether dressed up or not, one has to be in steady and unwavering search and inner analysis.

Krishnan Kartha    when one gets dressed up or labelled ,half the curiosity loses, and a sigh takes over,..

Ac  Menon vision n attire. s. Adi Shankara says, "Jnanam Sannyasa Lakshanam"

Krishnan Kartha               He has also said that " udara nimitham bahukritha vesham"

Krishnan Kartha            We have understand that in a different manner

Ac  Menon Right..

Krishnan Kartha                      Jnanam is attained through efforts to become a sannyasin.. So a sannyasi emerges when he attains Jnana. Then we can say that Jnana is the lakshana or sign of a sanyasin

Krishnan Kartha                  I am putting it up like this; Possession- Saturation - Renunciation and Realisation. This is what I have found.

Krishnan Kartha                         It may not be seen in this order in any text

Ac  Menon                              What is your view on Rennunciation ?

Krishnan Kartha       A mind will be in a stage of possession first. It will crave for each matter of interest. One by one it will get saturated in each object or vishaya. On that object it goes on in possession for some more time, but in a mood of saturation only , without craving,. Then slowly it renounses the object altogether. Even then there may be possession of that object. But with renounced feeling. At last it realises. It realises that the possession as well as renunciation are equal to a balanced mind. It cannot be attached to possession nor to renunciation... It cannot detached to possession nor to possession. A Non attachment develops. Neither AaSAKTHI nor VIRAKTHI but ANAASAKTHI.

Krishnan Kartha      It must be understood that while the mind is saturated in one object, it may be in a possession state on another object

Krishnan Kartha     when the mind renounces one object, it will be in a saturated state on another object and possession state on yet another object.

Krishnan Kartha     So aggregate realisation comes to the mind in the end of a steady analysis.

Sringara : a misunderstood word

Krishnan Kartha posted in his timeline on February  21, 2015

"Sringara" is a misunderstood word. The word 'Sringa' means peak and hence Sringara is associated with the peak of bliss. It is divided into two, samyoga and vipralambha. Samyoga denotes union and vipralambha, separation. The separation is the cause for agony. But this agonising factor is also identified as a fragment of the peak ... why? .. It is because the separation is not real but illusory! . The ego prompts the separation and hence agony. Thus Love contains no pain. If there is pain , there is ego and not love. So the cause of agony is illusion, ignorance. That is why my Master said "the distance between you and me is the distance between you and yourself"- Krishnan Kartha

Meaning of Soma : picture post on 2014 November 7

SOMA in Vedic literature is misunderstood as an intoxicating elixir consumed by Deva s ( luminous bodies) prepared from Somalatha, a creeper. There exists Somalatha, and also the process of making soma in yajna as an event. But the inner meaning of it has to be understood. SOMA = Sa + Uma . Means "with Uma" . Uma may be easily misunderstood as the consort of Lord Shiva of Puranas. But the real meaning is the "Ananda" aspect of Sat Chit Ananda. This Ananda aspect is also called as "Sakthi" ( Chith being "Siva ) Yang by Taoism, 'Priyam" by Vedanthins . This is the experience of what is known. So Sa+ Uma means the Wisdom, the synthesis of Awareness and Experience. Thus SOMA is nectarine, One who has this wisdom is intoxicated, goes without saying..

Eva Shiva Infinita : a sublime information
Alby Xavier : So there was no drinking of SOMA?

Krishnan Kartha : Ofcourse, there was, Alby Xavier. The ritual side was always in polarity with philosophy. In Yajna, even the purchase of SOMALATHA is a ritual. There is an elevated position for the urn containing the Somarasa, the juice of Soma creeper. The Yajamana (the main sacrificer) will ceremonially drink the soma towards the end of the Yajna. But that is symbolic. The purpose of Yajna initially was cultivation of knowledge. But there were by products like good harvest good rain etc. Soon the consumerist in Man focussed on those hymns which brought such results. So Yajnas started to become result oriented. There it got seperated from Wisdom. Deities were started to be worshiped then...

Bombay Srinivasan : Very informative. Thanks dear Krishnan Kartha. And those "Thumba Poo.. very nice.

Krishnan Kartha : " Bombay Srinivasan Sir, Siva Sakthi means the immortal blend of Awareness and Experience.... And it is not THUMBA flower. Net shows it as Soma flower. I dont know i got this picture from google picture search now I found the page , that is "http://swamiindology.blogspot.in/.../confusion-about... see how absurd the debates go ...in the above link, Bombay Srinivasan Sir, That prompted me to come out with my definition for SOMA

Bombay Srinivasan  : You are right sir. Carry on

Mastering Mind : A picture post by Krishnan Kartha 2 Feb 2015

Mind is an association from the beginning of the journey, over lives and lives. Hence an establishment. It will surpress one's rebellion against it in the form of meditation or surrender , since if allowed, these efforts kill the mind. One can tactfully tame it and walk besides like a friend. Then the mind becomes a "friend in need who is afriend indeed". My Master says " master your mind and become a Mastermind!- Krishnan Kartha

Sanjay Thampi Sir, to tame the mind, he/she must be watchful of his thoughts which is nothing but meditation or contemplation. Is taming mind possible without watching thoughts...??? If yes, then how is it different from Contemplation and Meditation...?? Is it inferior to contemplation...???? Is it significantly different from meditation....???????

Krishnan Kartha Dear Sanjay , Watching mind is admittedly the first step. Watching mind means watching thoughts. A thief enters your house and you are awakened by some noise. You get up and start to search him. Will he come out? he will hide himself without being see...See More

Sometimes it may not be a clean slate; perhaps plunge to lower planes. But whilst such a stature is in continuance (i) Does the mind which is independently aware, keep directional silence? (ii) Is the person stronger than mind to be dominant??

Krishnan Kartha Sabari Nadh i didnt understand anything.

Sabari Nadh I will try to express again!!!
Does one's mind remains silent, even if it finds out that, the path to the real destiny or its progress is getting sidetracked for the reason of worldly pleasures?
If it keeps silent then; Is one's mind less powerful, being unable to overcome one's own worldly desires?

Venu Gopal So true. "Master your mind and become a Mastermind"....WOW!!!!

Disucssion on " Thoughts are powerful tools" : On a picture post by Krishnan Kartha

Thoughts are the most powerful tool to remake oneself. Thoughts in mind creates the atmosphere through which we travel in the journey of life. It is just like

emitting a gas in front of you while travelling trhough a tunnel. If you emit nauseating gas, cumbersome your passage will be. Thoughts of Love and peace bring you the same in return. The only decisive factor is tTIME. You will become only what you think of becoming. It may happen soon or later ,depending upon the gravity of the thought. Later period can also inlude those ones when your mind is occupied in a different milieu. Mind may not even remember the present setting... Hence, my Master used to tell “ God you think, God you are, Dust you think, Dust you are” . The 37th verse of Tao te Ching also indicates that “Krishnan Kartha

Discussion followed:-
Spk Sudhin   "As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he" - Bible ....
"All that we are is the result of what we have thought: it is founded on our thoughts, it is made up of our thoughts. If a man speaks or acts with an evil thought, pain follows him, as the wheel follows the foot of the ox that draws the carriage… If a man speaks or acts with a pure thought, happiness follows him, like a shadow that never leaves him." - Dhammapada

Sreenath R  Sir I'm again asking you a doubt which I've asked you in an open discussion... Sir can we create a wish purposefully? In a lecture I've heard, the speaker says an example, that "one can not make a wish by his own, for instance when we see an advertisement of a car, initially we may not have the wish to own it, but by repeatedly telecasting it, the owner of the car producers will become successful to create a wish in our mind that to own the car... That's the case. If we can mindfully make wishes, why can't most people stop their habits? Wishes can not be made with conscious mind, but it comes from the subconscious mind" Thus can we propose fully manage with these thoughts with the mind we are used with?

Spk Sudhin I think wishes can be created consciously. Then to your question "If we can mindfully make wishes, why can't most people stop their habits? " The answer lies in the post itself. "You will become only what you think of becoming. It may happen soon or later ,depending upon the gravity of the thought. ". That gravity is the key. The whole books related to "New Thought Movement" deals with the art of making wishes and manifesting the way you want... "The law of Attraction". The law of attraction is the name given to the belief that "like attracts like" and that by focusing on positive or negative thoughts, one can bring about positive or negative results.

Anna Lucas  oh yes...I'll translate: "...jeżeli myślisz, że jesteś śmieciem to jesteś śmieciem, jeżeli myślisz, że jesteś Bogiem to jesteś Bogiem...

Spk Sudhin From 1901 to 1912 the English New Thought writer James Allen wrote a series of books and articles on this topic including the classic work "As a Man Thinketh"

Sreenath R with Spk Sudhin: But in our experience, I think that's not the case. For instance, One wishes to stop having liquor on Jan 1. He may not take it for Jan 1, Jan 2, Jan 3 and for atlast Jan 4, afterwards, Shanker on the same old cocunut tree .He tells an example from bhagavatha, that after the Kurukshetra war Krishna tells to Dharmaputra that Wishes will laugh at one who takes sword against it!

Suchetha ShahAtlast something in English. Please translate the recent conversations with Krishnan Kartha into English.

Spk Sudhin It's lack of will. It's not like just have a flash of thought and leave it. But you need to insert your will to hold that thought which mentioned as gravity..

Hiroko Ueyama For the first time I am learning from this Master Krishnan Kartha , that the real meaning of the 37th Verse - Tao Te Ching which says
"By not wanting, there is calm,  and the world will straighten itself.
When there is silence, one finds the anchor of the universe within oneself."
Thank you Sir, Thank you.
Spk Sudhin The phrase "law of attraction" appeared in the writings of the Theosophical authors William Quan Judge in 1915,and Annie Besant in 1919. Besant compared her version of the 'law of attraction' to 'gravitation', and said that the law represented a form of karma.
Spk Sudhin "The Tao does nothing, but leaves nothing undone.
If powerful men could center themselves in it ....the whole world would be transformed by itself,
in its natural rhythms.
When life is simple, pretenses fall away;
our essential natures shine through.
By not wanting, there is calm, and the world will straighten itself.
When there is silence, one finds the anchor of the universe within oneself." - 37th Verse - Tao Te Ching .
I think this words tells the "Art of Allowing". If you are fully surrendered to tao you are allowing Tao to flow through you. So each of your thoughts will have immense power to manifest...
Krishnan Kartha The summum bonum of this is that, the destiny has to be faced with equanimity as it is created by oneself... No external factor is responsible for that. This is the real IN DEPENDENCE ; the freedom from externals....

Krishnan Kartha To Sreenath, you have been asking about mindfulness repeatedly. The ideal way to reach mindfulness is this. When one learns awfully, that he is the creator of his destiny through his thought patterns, he maintains discipline of thought. One becomes 100% aware of the thoughts. This results in Mindfulness. ...The more engrossed one is, the more potency the emerging thoughts will possess. This feature of mind is picturised as 'curse' by sages in Indian stories....

Spk Sudhin Sir, In such state do a person try to manifest a wish? or just allow the tao to manifest itself?

Krishnan Kartha Who has a wish. Spk Sudhin ? Wish is related to a person who does not posses something. Man is full of wishes since he cannot "have" many things he want. He wants to become a man of 'HAVING" leaving the state of his original ' the Man of Being" . This ego trip brings about misery in life. The base of this misery is ignorance. Ignorance that one lacks many things. In fact he possesses everything and he is in command. Being unaware of this great treasure owned by him, he begs here and there.. My Master puts it as "the Bigger becoming the beggar!" . So as you have said, if such a person allows the so called TAO to manifest itself, that is his benevolence, his compassion to the Nature.....I hope this answers Sreenath's question also. Do you still want to make wishes ?

Sreenath R Sir but an ordinary man, who deals with his thoughtful mind, there he think to achieve certain things, right? But he can't really wish what he thinks good, for example, the most cruel man knows in his mind that it's not good to be like this, but he can't change even if he wishes to, and to continue his character in the drama?

Krishnan Kartha Dear Sreenath, your question contains the key to the answer. You said 'an ordinary man deals with his "thoughful mind" . This is the key. He is pestered by his 'thoughtful mind - a mind full of thoughts; while the Wise man is pampered by his "Mindful thought" ... He is pampered, means he is accorded with natures bounties galore.. The dreams are with others while the 'thing' is with him..

Spk Sudhin If a person returned to his state of being rather than having. Can he use everything he needed just like picking from a show case? If a Master wished in such a state "My shishya will become Enlightened". Can it happen?

Krishnan Kartha  Yes. He may have needs but not wants....

Spk Sudhin Gurus do what they can to bring peace to the world. Why that wish is not manifesting..?

Krishnan Kartha  This question will fade away as and when you reach the harmony called wisdom.. There cannot be separate wish for prakriti and the enlightened being. Please rememeber the "wish"

Spk Sudhin Okay... Now clear..

Sreenath R I think, that's not their wish... Also if it is happening through them, it will be against the way of nature

Spk Sudhin Similar to Sree Ramakrishna's words " Njan Yanthram Amma Yanthri". Isn't it?

Krishnan Kartha  Baiju NT is laid up with cough and cold, it seems.... Not seen.

January 19 at 8:40pm ·

Baiju NT I know nothing about THOU; nothing about ME; nothing about ANYTHING... What I all know is I know NOTHING... From this humbling (more often helpless) state of nothingness (ignorance), is it possible for thoughts to get the lift force to transform a person...? Isn't it Truth that does the transformation? If thought can transform, how does it get so powerful? How thoughts and Truth are interconnected?
January 19 at 8:40pm

Spk Sudhin  Really missed  you  Baiju  chettan ! you  were  waiting  for  mentioning  about  you ?
.
Krishnan Kartha :  Vijay's song " Nee Kaatu Naan Maram , enna sonnalum thalaiyaattumehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wvV0WyuU0mM

Baiju NT : Your thoughts about me brought me here. You just now learned how powerful thoughts are..

Krishnan Kartha : The bliss experienced by the couple in the song is the bliss of the mindful being, with the only difference that while couple ceases to enjoy when they part with, while the bliss of the enlightened is everlasting... a point of no return. Each and everyone here is rightful of that,,,,
To Baiju NT , In fact most miserable person and most pacific person turn to this right of bliss. Nature makes the life more and more miserable and at one point he refuses to fail and emerges successful. That may be in the form of worldly saturation but soon that will be replaced by the spiritual quest. The peaceful person has an easy walk over , rather.
To Baiju NT , in fact Truth comes to the thoughts through those who have walked in front. They are called Masters...

Sreenath R :Sir nature wish to bring every one to the ultimate end by passing them through different lives, but (I think) vasanas are the driving for agrahas, are agrahas leads to karma... But if this karma is not done with nissanga, again vasanas accumulates, hence the viscious circle goes on
. Then when will it end?

Krishnan Kartha : To Sreenath. You have talked about Vasana, Agraha, Karma etc. What is the seed ? The seed is the feeling that one lacks something. When the feeling of non possession arises, the mind starts to cling on the desire to possess the vishaya or the object of indulgence. The desire projects thoughts and it ends in accomplishment of the object or vishaya. The vasana or the mental formation, will end only when the saturation point is reached on the particular vishaya the object. It is interesting that there will be abundant supply of the said object when one is saturated in it. The virakthi or detachment on the said object follows. Now there is abundant supply and least demand. This results on negative utility. The law of diminishing marginal utility operates now. The problem for the person will be the excess supply and less desire. This is the cause for misery now.Sidhartha was miserable with the royal luxury. He could not help but escape from all those amenities. The vasana will cease to exist only when the negation becomes powerful. This is death of vasana , vaasana kshaya. So slowly one learns that the virakthi, detachment is also as miserable as aasakthi , the desire. He drops both and proceeds further to the state of equanimity. His desire will be backed by non attachment. His detachment will be backed by accommodation. At this state , the actions start to be without chain reactions. They do not form causes and hence no consequences. The cycle is broken here. This is what Gautama Buddha referred to as the "AVIDYA" (IGNORANCE) as the first step in His theory of Dependent Origination (Pratheethya Samuthpaada )

This understanding or Great Learning, sweeps away the difference between the SOONYA VAADA of the Buddha and the MAYAVAADA of Sankaracharya. The aviyda is illusion that I am exisitng as seperate from the externals. This is the same in Vedantha as Maya. . Ron Leifer and Ringu Tulku are scholars who have come near this understanding. Theravada Buddhism sees AVidya as non awareness of 8 things: 4 noble truths and the pre-natal past, the post-mortem future, the past and the future together, and dependent arising .The Mahayana teachings also mislead in this matter as ignorance of noble truths and all. But the Abhidharma Samucchaya DOES state that " What is ignorance (avidya)?" " It is a lack of being aware to one's fullest capacity ". This is what I explained above in the original post. So both Maya and Soonya are one and the same though fools see them as separate.

Hiroko Ueyama Oh Sir, this is Great vision. You blend contrasting theories!!!!

Sreenath R :Sir vasanas can only be eliminated by pocessing the object and experiencing thereby reaching the point of saturation, and upon saturation comes the virakthi. But what should be the mental attitude to be kept while experiencing the vishaya, that is in the time between the point of procession and the point of saturation?

Spk Sudhin sir, Now I know I already possess everything nothing is separate from me (Intellectually) but still I not realized it. How can I reach from intellectual understanding to that realization ?  Also on this background What is the essence of "Karma Yoga" as mentioned by Krishna ?

Ravindranath Kartha Absolutely right KKji, as always you are !! ....... even the most dedicated will, until a certain point of understanding, not be opened to awareness......and Spk ji, karma is again the true reflection of your thoughts.....karma is implementation of the very same thoughts . You think God you are.......... and you are......

Interference in Nature ; Consequences - Questions by Sanjay Thampi

On the onset of  HudHud hurricane in Andhra cost (http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/Cyclone-Hudhud-Andhra-Pradesh-braces-for-very-severe-storm-today/articleshow/44787316.cms?hc_location=ufi) a picture post appeared in Krishnan Kartha's timeline

"Nature is the concrete form of God and God is the abstract form of nature. Let us Pray for being soft to people in Vizag and other coastal districts, while scrutinizing the karma of the beings. The law provides for condonation."- Krishnan Kartha.
A discussion followed:
Sanjay Thampi : if it is made soft now by prayers, will it be over by this...?? Or will it strikes heavily next time in yet another form...?? anyway it has to undergo; else there must be someone to take care of it. Is it so..??

Krishnan Kartha : You are right Sanjay , there must be someone to take care of it. That someone can be some people. The will of the people in their heart can change the fury. Unity is strength here. It can thus be softened. And there will be no residue of karma as you doubt here, since the causes leading to the consequence get distributed. It means, if the prayer is successful there wont be hidden attacks with part of the left out misery. It will be over for ever. Until Man gathers more causes to irritate the Nature.
.................. Mind can work wonders, Sanjay Thampi

Sanjay Thampi : sir, do u mean that more powerful the will, less furious will be the attack. "If the prayer is successful there won't be ..." does it means that there must be two things which are vital; firstly the 'will' and the 'prayers' to prevent the recurrent attacks. Can it be summed up like this: A determined will (wills) coupled with successful prayers can avoid a fury by ruling out a mere possibility of it recurrent attacks; until him (them) gathers more causes by passage of time which compels nature to maintain the balance...?????

Krishnan Kartha : The prayer is nothing other than will focused to one own inner self. The lesser Me telling to the Cosmic Me.Now you may go through my word once again, you may stand corrected.
The one who is in harmony with the nature "decides" and and who has not yet reached that state" requests". That is all
the Nature is otherwise called enlightenment.

Sanjay Thampi :now it is clear what actually prayer is..!! it is quiet obvious that if there is someone who is capable to decide, then it is less important if someone requests or not. But sir, i have heard u saying that an enlightened being (who is capable to decide) will be in harmony with nature and will not interfere with the usual business of nature.is that correct. If that statement is correct; then the we have hope in requests (because those who are capable of deciding will always be a witness of the affairs of nature)

Sanjay Thampi : the cyclone is reported to be very destructive..

Krishnan Kartha : Sanjay, as you pointed out, those who can "decide" seldom do it. Because they dont want to interfere with business of the nature. But ,interestingly, they may 'request',just like any other fellow being, since they have the liberty to do so. Since nobody else understands their position, they are not confusing anybody. Jesus, being the Christ , prayed to forgive those who had tortured him on the Cross.Who is forgiving them, ? Jesus himself. no?

Sanjay Thampi :if they request, their request will not be an ordinary request. (as Rahul Gandhi placing requests before the party). There will be only one option and that is to fulfill that request. That is a decision done (executed) in the form of a request. The only difference is that the people around will not be confused.

Krishnan Kartha : Yes that is right. So let us request then.... " Athatho Dharma Jijnaasa as the Meemamsa starts, let us learn about the dharma..."

Krishnan Kartha :Sanjay Thampi , Buddhist and jain doctrines proclaim that "Ahimsa Paramo Dharmah" , Non violence is the ultimate righteousness or duty. Now you may re learn the entire conversation with this proclamation in mind. You will understand what is Param Dharma, the ultimate duty... It can be identified as the "doing; of the enlightened , the param jeevi, the supreme being. And he just does not interfere. This is the supreme non violence. and not what we usually believe as non killing...

Sanjay Thampi :Ahimsa is defined. Suppose if a supreme being starts to interfere or breaks the cardinal principals of enlightenment., what will happen..?? Jesus has made a paralyzed person walk, has resurrected lazar, converted water into wine...!! all these are intervention into the affairs of nature. what will be the result if an enlightened persons comes in rage with the nature and start to challenge nature..???

Krishnan Kartha : In that case the enlightened being accepts suffering himself. he welcomes pain.

Sanjay Thampi : is there an option available with the supreme being that he can avoid sufferings even if he intervenes with the business of nature by challenging it..?? Since he challenge the nature; in every occasion he need not accept the sufferings. Is there an option available for him to avoid that..??

Krishnan Kartha :Such a thought comes to one in bondage. Not to one in liberty.

Sanjay Thampi :enlightened means (as i think)that one has climbed the peak with much pain and dedication and saw the ultimate beauty. so an enlightened person shall never be carried away by a bondage since he knows it very well. If he does something, it must be out of benevolence and in vice-verse. Still there is a possibility that like a genius in the wrong way, so does an enlightened in the wrong way. Can it be ruled out..?? Can a being become a supreme enlightened being in the wrong way...??

Krishnan Kartha : You have mistaken. The one who is in bondage is the one who refuses to be enlightened. The one who is in liberty means the one who is enlightened. ... so as you fear, the enlightened never carries with him the bondage or anything... I would make it once more clear... The question of yours was whether there is any chance for the enlightened to evade pain... And my answer was that such a thought never comes to a an enlightened since he sees pain and pleasure as two sides of the coin called Bliss.....

Sanjay Thampi : Sir, as u said .."In that case the enlightened being accepts suffering himself. he welcomes pain..."whenever the enlightened being interfere with the affairs of nature out of benevolence, he accepts sufferings himself. He welcomes pain as he sees it as nothing but the other side of pleasure. I remember, earlier u have said that an enlightened being seldom interfere with the affairs of nature and he prefers to be harmonious with it. Sir.., my doubt is.., can we rule-out the possibility that a being after getting enlightened, engage in continuous interference with the affairs of nature and sits back and enjoying the pain..??

Krishnan Kartha :you cannot rule out Sanjay ,there can be such people.

Sanjay Thampi : u are confusing me..!!!

Krishnan Kartha :A Master postpones his sufferingto the eve of his life. In fact he enjoys the eve better than a bound one.Toothers around, he is "suffering" .To him ,as you said he is"enjoying"

Sanjay Thampi :Sir, I am asking whether"YOU" can rule-out that possibility..?????

Krishnan Kartha : why confusion?

Sanjay Thampi :Sir, U have said that "u cannot rule out Sanjay. there can be such people.." If such people are there, i.e., enlightened being going against the cardinal principle (harmony with the nature). for them if or not they interfere, the result will be"enjoyment". true..??

Krishnan Kartha : yes. Of Pain.

Sanjay Thampi :enlightened being can play with the nature or play against the nature or can remain as a witness; with their"karma" intact..!! if they play against, they will suffer rather enjoy. the more u interfere; the most u will enjoy..??

Krishnan Kartha :yes. Interference is a commission. Commission of Cause or Karma. It will have consequences.

Sanjay Thampi : is there any difference between joyful enjoyment and painful enjoyment..??

Krishnan Kartha : You will understand this once you experience at least a physical pleasure fully.

Sanjay Thampi :Sir, is there any difference between joyful enjoyment and painful enjoyment for an enlightened being....?? I mean will one distinguish with the other..!!

Krishnan Kartha : Distinction is delusion. The enlightened is "dwanthaatheetha" the one beyond duality. Equanimity is his nature. So he wont distinguish.

Sanjay Thampi :Sir., I want further clarification""Interference is a commission. Commission of Cause or Karma. It will have consequences..."" shall we resume the talk from here in your physical presence..??

Krishnan Kartha : of course why not?

Krishnan Kartha : Tuesday.

Sanjay Thampi :thank u sir

Hiroko Ueyama A great discussion revealing many things, thanks Sanjay for asking and thanks Krishnan Kartha for answering them with great care and precision. Under the circumstances, with the hurricane in East India on cards, the dialogue was thought provoking. Thanks once more

Being near a Master is an adventure :

On October 17 ,2014 Krishnan Kartha posted the following picture post in his time line

Being near a Master is the greatest adventure. One comes near Him thanks to his deeds. The greater the merits the seeker brings, the worse the Master can expect from him. In abundance of merit the seeker forgets his job and simply ill treats the Master, through his stances, priorities, dreams, and selfish needs! The Master is bound to unleash the grace, for He aims at redeeming the debts at the earliest. Those who had been kind to the Master in the past , who had been ‘worshippers’ , pose themselves as “war shippers” now… The Master simply ignores the ‘war shippers’ . Because, if he becomes concerned about their cat calls , those fellows will gather around him to serve in the next tenure. .. Those who had been brutal to the Master those days, become servile to him now. The Master may admonish them angrily now and then, since the Master want to break the chain of reaction. Now what is a seeker’s choice? … To be conscious of each moment with the Master. That is Heaven. – Krishnan Kartha

P.S. The usage “Worshippers and War shippers” I heard from my friend Jnaneswar Srinivasan , in Chennai and liked the coinage very much. - Krishnan Kartha

Discussion followed:

Baiju N T : Living with a Master may be an adventurous experience, but in my experience, I've seen several people who are very close to a Master, but still complaining about their "nearness" with the Master as miserable as hell. Due to some reasons, for some, life with the Master is not a joyful adventure, while some like myself find it extremely joyful and entertaining... Why does this happen? Is this because the Master is biased?
October 17, 2014 at 9:48pm

Krishnan Kartha :   To Baiju , only when you live with a Master you would feel something about it. Till then it is bookish knowledge. It is a rare fortune to be near such a One. If you could manage to be conscious in the presence, the master will continuously make his presence felt even when you are physically away from. That is the test, whether you had been conscious or not in Master's presence. If you had read my words carefully, you would not have commented that "complaining about the miserable life" . Yes .Master is a demanding friend. He demands more than your beloved and other relatives. Once you step into his threshold you commit to be "disciplined" by him and thus becoming a "disciple" . The bias of the Master, if at all there, may be understood with deep contemplation on the above two statements. Thanks.

I just saw a posting by my friend Sanjeev SU , a video showing how a tiger protects a cub of its prey , a Gnou , while another mother in the herd drives the cub without giving milk, selfishly safeguarding the milk for its won cub.I have shared the video in my timeline. The master's love is like this,Baiju, no reason. Not duty bound.

Spk Sudhin brought this post to the notice of Krishnan Kartha on 20th  January 2015.

Krishnan Kartha commented :  It is a great thing that the mother Nature provides the right food at the right time with right interval. One's duty is to relish the morsels as sumptuous feast. Without unnecessary haste. Haste makes indigestion, waste. Indigestion is confusion. I have found this in a boy who left his parents and his studies abroad and wandered here and there in himalayas and visited me yrsterday. So Sudhin, Upanishad says take the wisdom from the books like rice from paddy and throw away the husk......."

Spk Sudhin :  Right message at Right time sir... Me too felt so... My hunger to read books left me in very much confusion and restlessness in mind. So decided to spend more time on contemplation... Read little and reflect more. I discussed about this view to Sreenath   last day...

Sreenath R Sir really great message sir.... Our quest to catch some "mystic unknown" was ceased after attending the winter school on the realisation that these is no need to be mush haste to 'get' ' That' and as you said nature will gradually remove the curtain...
Sir while but for the little time given for for reading, how could we bifurcate the rice from husk? It is possible to a small extend now sir, but how to develop it?

Krishnan Kartha To Sreenath, It only means that after taking the content you may throw away the book. That is what Upanishads have said. Many people keep the book as an authority in their 'heads'. This is the wrong practise. Keep the meaning in 'heart' and leave the book. That is what is meant by the sentence. When you take it to heart, it needs synchronisation with what you have learnt already. A conflicting thing cannot enter the heart. It can enter the 'head' only, where the entered data is disected in detail. This analysis may sometimes lead to confusion. So the step is , read IF you must, then synchronise with what you have imbibed in your heart and if needed append the same. Leave the book.

Spk Sudhin From books to get the right knowledge we need a base isn't it? What can be taken as a base? What I meant is that do we need a basic framework to understand the right knowledge? Otherwise even if I think I got it by heart it will be another play of mind

Krishnan Kartha That is the problem. The basic framework is obtained only through continuous focus on the subject. It is already in the brain. The wisdom is stored therein. Uninterrupted contemplation on the matter is the preliminary step. There will be confirmation of the conclusions soon. Only a meditative mind can get it. So Meditate.
No wisdom is coming from outside. It is from yourself. You are treasure of all knowledge. Synthesise and reach Wisdom. The intellect is given for the work of synthesis and the resultant practical , joyful living....

Spk Sudhin So how we know when we reach the right conclusion..?

Krishnan Kartha   I told you already, "There will be confirmation of the conslusions soon" .Try first. Then experience the confirmation...
Dont confine yourself into a tiny particle in the universe.Think Great.

Post Script comment

Spk Sudhin One morning in 1944, a disciple approached Bhagavan
with an air of supplication and said, “Bhagavan, I would like
to read books and find out a path whereby I can attain mukti,

but I do not know how to read. What shall I do? How can I
realise mukti?” Bhagavan said, “What does it matter if you
are illiterate? It is enough if you know your own Self.” “All
people here are reading books, but I am not able to do that.
What shall I do?” he said.
Stretching out his hand towards the disciple, Bhagavan
said, “What do you think the book is teaching? You see
yourself and then see me. It is like asking you to see yourself
in a mirror. The mirror shows only what is on the face. If
you see the mirror after washing your face, the face will
appear to be clean. Otherwise the mirror will say there is
dirt here, come back after washing. A book does the same
thing. If you read the book after realising the Self, everything
will be easily understood. If you read it before realising the
Self, you will see ever so many defects. It will say, ‘First set
yourself right and then see me.’ That is all. First see your
Self. Why do you worry yourself about all that book
learning?”
The disciple was satisfied and went away encouraged.
Another disciple who has the courage to ask questions on
such matters, took up the thread of the conversation and
said, “Bhagavan, you have given him a peculiar
interpretation.” Bhagavan replied, “What is peculiar in it?
It is all true. What books did I read when I was young?
What did I learn from others? I was always immersed in
meditation. After some time, Palaniswamy used to bring from
various people a number of books containing Vedantic
literature and used to read them. He used to make many
mistakes in reading. He was elderly and was not well-read.
He was however anxious to read. He used to read with
tenacity and religious faith. Because of that I used to feel
happy. So, when I took those books in order to read them
myself, and tell him what was in them, I found that what all
was written therein had already been experienced by myself.
I was surprised. I wondered, ‘What is all this? It is already
written here in these books about myself.’ That was so in
every one of those books. As whatever is written there has
already been experienced by myself, I used to understand
the text in no time. What took him twenty days to read, I
used to finish reading in two days. He used to return the
books and bring others. That was how I came to know about
what was written in the books.”
One of the disciples said, “That is perhaps why
Sivaprakasam Pillai, while writing Bhagavan’s biography,
referred to Bhagavan even at the outset as ‘One who is a
Brahma Jnani without knowing the name of Brahman’.”
Bhagavan said: “Yes, Yes, that is right. That is why it is said
that one should first know about oneself before reading a
book. If that is done, it will be known that what is written in
the book is only an epitome of what is really experienced by
oneself. If one does not see one’s Self but reads a book, one
finds a number of defects.” “Is it possible for all to become
like Bhagavan? The use of a book at least helps one to set
right one’s defects,” said the disciple. “That is so. I did not
say that reading is no help. I merely said that there is no
need for illiterate people to think they can never attain moksha
on that account and thereby feel disheartened. See how
depressed he was when he asked me. If the facts are not
explained properly, he will feel still further depressed,” said
Bhagavan.
